In 2020 I worked with the CNN Motion team to build an interactive on the importance of carbon sinks. My work consisted of animating diagrams explaining how carbon sinks work in nature.
On this project, Ignacio Osorio served as art director, and Woojin Lee as the designer. After Woojin completed the diagrams, which were double and tripled checked for accuracy with our editorial team, I animated them in After Effects. Once approved, the animations were then exported as Lottie files to hand off to our developer.
Below are the diagrams for three different types of carbon sinks: Mangroves, Peatlands and Boreal Forests.
